郵政省と地方郵政局は、1999年（平成11）7月、「ふるさと切手」を発行した。デザインは、長野県「中山道」（995万枚）と、京都府「天橋立」（990万枚）と、北海道県「北の鳥たち」4種（各1012.5万枚）である。
Furusato (Regional) Stamps Issued on716, ～7 23, 1999(Heisei 11)
The Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications and the Local Post Office issued "Furusato Stamps" in July 1999 (Heisei 11). The designs are Nagano Prefecture "Nakasendo" (9.95 million pieces), Kyoto Prefecture "Amanohashidate" (9.9 million pieces), and Hokkaido Prefecture "Northern Birds" 4 species (10.125 million pieces each).
