占領下暫定切手（宮良印） 1948年（昭和23年）1月発行 沖縄は、太平洋戦争末期の1945年（昭和20）6月、アメリカ軍により殲滅された。同年12月にアメリカ軍政府が設置され、1946年（昭和21）3月、琉球民政府が設立された。1948年1月に、それまでの日本切手（大日本帝国郵便）に八重山地区の郵便局長印を押した暫定切手が発行された。宮良印の切手は、1948年6月30日まで暫定的に使用された。

Okinawa was annihilated by the US military in June 1945 (Showa 20) at the end of the Pacific War. The US military government was established in December of the same year, and the Ryukyu Civil Administration was established in March 1946 (Showa 21). In January 1948, a provisional stamp was issued with the postmaster's seal of the Yaeyama district on the previous Japanese stamps (Dainippon Imperial Mail). Miyara-mark stamps were tentatively used until June 30, 1948.
