Issued on October 1, 1944 (Showa 19)

Kanto Jingu Shrine Completion Memorial, Issued on October 1, 1944 (Showa 19) - Specimen - Since 1906 (Meiji 39), Kanto state (and Manchurian railway adjoining land) in northeastern China was dominated by Japan's “Kanto Bureau”. In 1936 (Showa 11), the Kanto Bureau started construction of a Japanese style shrine "Kanto Jingu" in order to popularize Japanese Shinto (the ancient God of Japan) in Dalian City.
This stamp was issued in commemoration for the completion of "Kanto Jingu" in October 1944. This is the last commemorative stamp of the Empire of Japan.
