小判切手（旧小判切手1） 1876年（明治9年）～ 1879年（明治12年）発行 （みほん）
1876年（明治9年）急増する郵便量に対応するため、手彫り切手に代わって、近代的印刷技術による、国際的に通用する英文「IMPERIAL JAPANESE POST]を組入れた新しい切手が発行された。江戸時代の高額金貨「小判」に縁取が似て「小判切手」と呼ばれ、旧小判、U小判、新小判に分類されている。

Koban stamp (old Koban stamp1) Issued on 1876(Meiji9)-1879(Meiji12) - Specimen -
In 1876 (Meiji 9), to cope with the rapidly increasing postal volume, a new stamp incorporating the internationally accepted English sentence "IMPERIAL JAPANESE POST" was issued in place of Hand carved（Etched) stamps by modern printing technology. It is called an "Koban stamp".It is similar to the large gold coin "Koban" in the Edo period, and is classified into Old Koban, U Koban, and New Koban.
