The normalization of diplomatic relations between Japan and China is the conclusion of diplomatic relations between Japan and the People's Republic of China by issuing a joint statement between Japan and China in September 1972. This resolved the situation where there was no formal diplomatic relations between the two countries 23 years after the founding of the People's Republic of China. It was established on September 29 by the signing of the "Joint Statement of the Government of Japan and the Government of the People's Republic of China" (Joint Statement of Japan and China). Based on this Japan-China joint statement, Japan notified the Republic of China, which had previously had diplomatic relations, of the diplomatic relations. The stamp was issued in commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the Japan-China joint statement, and was issued by Ninsei Nonomura of Japan, "Iroegetsubai Chatsubo" and "Sancai Dragon Ear Bottle" of the Tang Dynasty in China.
