アルペンスキー世界選手権 (FIS)は、国際スキー連盟 (FIS)が主催するアルペンスキー競技の世界選手権である。第二次世界大戦によって中断されるまでは毎年、1948年から1982年までは偶数年に開催され、冬季オリンピック開催年は世界選手権を兼ねていた。1985年以降は奇数年に開催され独立した大会となっている。切手は、1993年2月に日本で開催されたこの大会を記念して発行され、「スーパー大回転と滑降」がデザインされている。

The Alpine Skiing World Championship (FIS) is a world championship for alpine skiing ompetitions sponsored by the International Ski Federation (FIS). It was held every year from 1948 to 1982 in even-numbered years until it was interrupted by World War II, and the year of the Winter Olympic Games doubled as a world championship. 1985 Since then, it has been held in odd-numbered years and has become an independent tournament. The stamp was issued in commemoration of this tournament held in Japan in February 1993, and is designed for "Super-G Giant Slalom and Downhill".
