国際植物科学会議 (IBC) は、植物を対象とした研究のすべてをテーマにする国際会議で， 1900年にパリで第 1回大会が開催された。この会議はヨーロッパと非ヨーロッパで交互に聞かれ， 第15回会議 はアジアではじめて日本 (横浜) で開催された。切手は、この会議を 記念して発行され、「シラネアオイとコウヤマキ」がデザインされている。
XV International Botanical Congress Issued on August 23, 1993 (Heisei 5)
The International Conference on Plant Sciences (IBC) is an international conference on all the themes of research on plants, and the first conference was held in Paris in 1900. This conference was heard alternately in Europe and non-Europe, and the 15th conference was held in Japan (Yokohama) for the first time in Asia.The stamp was issued in commemoration of this conference and is designed with "Glaucidium palmatum and Sciadopity".
