Establishment of the Environment Day Issued on June 3, 1994 (Heisei 6)
In 1972 (Showa 47), the United Nations designated June 5 as "World Environment Day" by a proposal from Japan. As a result, in Japan, June 5 was designated as "Environment Day" by the "Basic Environment Law" of 1994. The Environment Agency has designated the week of June as "Environmental Month" and is making efforts to improve various environmental problems. Stamps are issued in commemoration of the establishment of "Environment Day" and are designed with "Circle of Creatures".
