1994年10月、郵政省は。国際文通週間 (International Letter Writing Week) 切手を発行した。国際文中週間は文通による相互理解で世界平和に貢献する国際週間である。万国郵便連合 (UPU) 結成日の10月9日から1週間、毎年設定されている。切手は、江戸時代初期風俗図の松浦屏風 (まつうらびょうぶ) から「貝合わせ」と「羽根つき」と「かるた」がデザインされている。
International Letter Writing Week Issued on October 6, 1995 (Heisei 7)
In October 1994, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications. International Letter Writing Week stamps have been issued. International Penpal Week is an international week that contributes to world peace through mutual understanding through corres- pondence. It is set every year for one week from October 9th, the date of formation of the Universal Postal Union (UPU). The stamps are designed from "Kaiawase", "Hanetsuki" and "Karuta" from Matsuura Byoubu, a genre painting of the early Edo period.
