The Centennial Anniversary of Modern River Administration System Issued on July 5, 1996 (Heisei 8)

The Centennial Anniversary of Modern River Administration System Issued on July 5, 1996 (Heisei 8)
In 1896 (Meiji 29), the old River Law was enacted. At that time, the emphasis was on river management rather than water utilization. With the economic development after the war, the use of rivers such as hydroelectric power generation and industrial water has increased rapidly, and the Specified Multipurpose Dam Law and the Water Resources Development Promotion Law have been established. The role of rivers is being reconsidered not only for the role of hydraulic control and water utilization, but also for forming a diverse habitat and habitat for living organisms as a precious water and green space. The stamp is issued in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the river system, and the "Oirase Valley" is designed.
