The Japan-Mexico Preference Treaty signed between Japan and Mexico in 1888 brought 34 Japanese migrants to Mexico on May 19, 1897. This day was designated as "the anniversary of the founding of Japanese emigration." The stamp is issued to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Japanese emigration to Mexico and is designed with "eagle, tiger and sun".
