From November 1997 to February 1999, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications published 5 collections (11 types) of the "Japanese Private House Series". In Japanese architectural history and folklore, Japanese folk houses are mainly called farmhouses and townhouses in the Edo period. This includes houses built after the Meiji era that use traditional styles and techniques. In addition, the residences of middle and lower samurai may be included in private houses.
