第53回国民体育大会は、1998年1月24日から10月29日の間、神奈川県の横浜市と岩手県の盛岡市とその周辺で開催された。47都道府県30,322人が参加した。切手は、これを記念して発行され、「ヨット競技とヤマユリ」がデザインされている。
53th National Athletic Meet Issued on September 11, 1998 (Heisei 10)
The 53rd National Athletic Meet was held from January 24th to October 29th, 1998 in Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture, Morioka City, Iwate Prefecture, and its surroundings. 30,322 people from 47 prefectures participated. The stamp was issued in commemoration of this, and "Yacht competition and golden-rayed lily" is designed.
