The world's first New Year stamp was issued in Paraguay, South America, in 1931 as a 1932 New Year stamp. The next issue was Japan. The first New Year stamp in Japan was "Showa 11 New Year Stamp", which was issued on December 1, 1935. New Year's stamps were issued in 1936, but the Sino-Japanese War broke out in 1937, and the tendency to refrain from New Year's cards became remarkable, and less than half of the 300 million stamps were sold. It was canceled for a year. After the war, New Year stamps were issued on December 13, 1948, as "New Year stamps for 1948". Stamps are issued on small sheets to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the issuance of New Year stamps, and "past New Year stamps are designed.
