Centenary of Japanese Migration to Bolivia Issued on June 1, 1999 (Heisei 11)

Centenary of Japanese Migration to Bolivia Issued on June 1, 1999 (Heisei 11)
In 1899, the first Japanese immigrants emigrated to Bolivia. Then, in April 1914, diplomatic relations were established by concluding the "Japan-Bolivia Trade Treaty". In 1941, when the Pacific War broke out, Bolivia declared war on Japan and diplomatic relations were cut off. After the war, diplomatic relations resumed in 1952, and a migration agreement was signed in 1956. Currently, the friendly relationship between the two countries is maintained through Japan's economic assistance. The stamp is issued to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Japanese migration to Bolivia and is designed with "Diablo and Lake Titicaca".
