著作権制度100周年 1999 (平成11年) 7月22日発行
日本は1899年にベルヌ条約に加盟し、同年に著作権法が施行された。著作権 (copy right) は、作品を創作した者が有する権利である。また、作品がどう使われるか決めることができる権利である。創作した者を著作者という。切手は、著作権法施行100年を記念して発行され、「著作権のキャラクター」がデザインされている。
Centenary of Copyright System in Japan Issued on July 22, 1999 (Heisei 11)
Japan joined the Berne Convention in 1899, and the copyright law came into force in the same year. Copyright is the right of the person who created the work. It is also the right to decide how the work will be used. The person who created it is called the author. The stamp is issued to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the enforcement of the Copyright Law, and is designed with a "copyright character".
