「全国植樹祭」は、昭和25年以来、国土緑化運動の中心的行事として、毎年春に開催されている。国土緑化運動の切手は、過去に1948年と1949年に発行された。1971年に改めて国土緑化運動促進のために切手が発行され、それ以降毎年発行されるようになった。2000年の国土緑化切手は、「ブンゴ梅とメジロと九重連山」がデザインされている。
