国際切手展は、日本では1971年から10年おきに開催されてきた。日本国際切手展2001 (略称：PHILANIPPON'01) は、「世界が集う夢がふくらむ 切手の祭典」をテーマに、「写真付き切手」のデモンストレーション販売を実施するなど、郵趣に関わる郵便事業関係者のみならず一般利用者を対象にした幅広いイベントとして開催された。切手はこれを記念して、シール付きシートとタブ付きシートが発行された。

International stamp exhibitions have been held in Japan every 10 years since 1971. Japan International Stamp Exhibition 2001 (abbreviation: PHILANIPPON '01) is only for postage stamps related to philately, such as holding a demonstration sale of "stamps with photos" under the theme of "a festival of stamps where the world gathers and dreams grow". It was held as a wide range of events for general users. To commemorate this, stamps were issued with stickers and tabbed sheets.
