秋田ワールドゲームズ2001 2001 (平成13年) 8月 16日発行
2001年8月、秋田県でアジアで初めてワールドゲームズが開催された大会。この大会から表彰式で国旗が掲揚され、国歌が演奏された。それまではナショナリズムを煽るという理由で、国別対抗というかたちにはなっていなかったが、それでは人気が出ないということで変更された。切手はこれを記念して発行され、「4種の競技種目」がデザインされている。
World Games 2001 Akita Issued on August 16, 2001 (Heisei 13)
In August 2001, the world games were held for the first time in Asia in Akita Prefecture. From this tournament, the national flag was raised and the national anthem was played at the awards ceremony. Until then, it wasn't in the form of a national rivalry because it fueled nationalism, but it was changed because it wouldn't be popular. Stamps are issued in commemoration of this, and "4 kinds of competitions" are designed.
