水辺の鳥シリーズ 3 1992年（平成4年）1月30日 発行 日本は古くから海に囲まれた島国で、陸地面積の約80％が森林に覆われている。全国に30,000以上の川が流れ、多くの湖沼が存在する。そのため、それらに生息する水辺の鳥は、海辺や河川、湖沼等で容易に見ることができる。それは、干潟などで餌を求めていたり、水に浮かび休んでいるなど、鳥たちの動きが緩慢だからである。近年の経済成長に伴い、国土の開発が進む時代において、自然環境の中の生態系を保護・育成することは、極めて重要な課題である。郵政省は、1991年から1993年に渡り「水辺の鳥シリーズ切手」を8集（16種）発行した。このリーフは、第3集である。
