Birds at the Water's edge Series 2 Issued on September 27, 1991 (Heisei 3)

Birds at the Water's edge Series 2 Issued on September 27, 1991 (Heisei 3) Japan is an island country surrounded by the sea, and about 80% of the land area is covered with forests. There are more than 30,000 rivers and many lakes all over the country. Therefore, the waterside birds that inhabit them can be easily seen at the beach, rivers, lakes and marshes. This is because the birds are slow to move, such as seeking food on tidal flats or floating on the water and resting. With the progress of national land development with economic growth in recent years, it is an extremely important issue to protect and nurture the ecosystem of the natural environment. From 1991 to 1993, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications published 8 collections (16 types) of "Waterside Bird Series Stamps". This leaf is the 2nd collection.
