小判切手（旧小判切手1） 1876年（明治9年）～ 1879年（明治12年）発行 1876年（明治9年）急増する郵便量に対応するため、手彫り切手に代わって、近代的印刷技術による、国際的に通用する英文「IMPERIAL JAPANESE POST]を組入れた新しい切手が発行された。江戸時代の高額金貨「小判」に縁取が似て「小判切手」と呼ばれ、旧小判、U小判、新小判に分類されている。
Koban stamp (old Koban stamp1) Issued on 1876(Meiji9)-1879(Meiji12) In 1876 (Meiji 9), to cope with the rapidly increasing postal volume, a new stamp incorporating the internationally accepted English sentence "IMPERIAL JAPANESE POST" was issued in place of Hand carved（Etched) stamps by modern printing technology.
