It is the only full-scale coastal park in eastern Japan. In terms of management, it is divided into the Hachinohe / Miyako district in the north and the Ofunato district in the south. The area is 12,212ha. In May 1955 (Showa 30), it was designated as the Rikuchu Kaigan National Park. The designated area was severely damaged by the tsunami caused by the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011, and the name has now been changed to SANRIKUKAIGAN FUKKO (Sanriku Coastal Reconstruction)National Park. At the same time, a small sheet (tato and no perforations) was issued.
