In October 1956 (Showa 31), the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications issued two types of Saikai National Park stamps. Saikai National Park is a national park located in the northwestern part of Nagasaki Prefecture. In March 1955 (Showa 30), it was designated as the 18th in Japan. The area is 24,646 ha. It features an open-sea archipelago landscape with 400 large and small islands, including Kujuku Islands, which consists of a ria coast and more than 200 islands.At the same time, a small sheet (with tato ・no perforations) was issued.
This stamp was the last issue of the first national park stamp. After this, the issuance of national park stamps was suspended until 1962 (Showa 37).
