Akiyoshidai Quasi-National Park Issued on 3 ,16 , 1959 (Showa 34)
In March 1959 (Showa 34), the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications issued two types of Akiyoshidai Quasi-National Park stamps.
Akiyoshidai, the central area of the park, is one of the largest karst plateaus in Japan, extending to the central and eastern parts of Mine City. It was designated as a Quasi- national park in 1955, and was designated as a special natural monument in 1964.
The limestone that creates the magnificent landscape of Akiyoshidai was born as a coral reef in the southern sea about 350 million years ago, and many years later formed the karst plateau as it is today. The stamps are designed on the karst plateau and Akiyoshido (limestone cave).
