Suigō Quasi-National Park Issued on 6 , 1 , 1962 (Showa 37)
In June 1962 (Showa 37), the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications issued a kind of Suigo Quasi-National Park Stamp.
Suigo Quasi National Park was designated in 1959 (Showa 34), and then the Mt. Tsukuba area was added in 1969 and integrated into "Suigo Tsukuba National Park". "Suigo" means lake area. It is said that the Suigo area such as Kasumigaura produced salt in ancient times. There are abundant fresh and saltwater fish, and there are also many waterfowl such as ducks. Mt. Tsukuba has beautiful twin peaks, Mt. Nantai and Mt. Nyotai. Both Kashima and Katori shrines at the entrance to Suigo have a strong belief as guardian deities, and. water transportation in the Edo period developed towns along many rivers. The park area is about 350 square kilometers.
The stamp is designed with a water town and an old small ferry.
