Hand carvedstamps 4 (Cherry Blossom of Transitional period)
<< Japanese paper with Syllabics >> Issed on 1874 (Meiji7)
In 1873 (Meiji 6), the Ministry of Finance inserted a "Syllabics" on the surface of stamps for the purpose of managing the number of stamps distributed all over the country. The printing paper at this time was a transitional period when the conventional "Japa-nese paper" was changed to "Western paper", which is easy to print. Four kinds of"stamps of Japanese paper with Syllabics" were issued. These Stamps are issued in a very short period of time and in a small number, and are classified as "transitional cherry blossom stamps".
