In March 1972, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications issued two types of Hiba, Dogo, and Taishaku Quasi-National Park Stamps.
Hiba, Dogo,Taishaku Quasi-National Park is an area that includes the mountains of Hiroshima,Tottori, and Shimane Prefecture, and the Taishaku Valley. The park area is 84km2 and was designated in 1963. The northern part is centered on 1200m- class mountains such as Mt. Hiba and Mt. Dogo.The forests in this area have been cut down, and there are many grazing lands and grasslands.The large forests of Mt. Hiba and the primeval forests are valuable. Taishaku Gorge is a limestone valley. with well-developed karst terrain.
The stamps are designed for the Hiba mountain range and the Taishaku Gorge.
