The first New Year stamp in Japan was issued in December 1936 (Showa 10) for the New Year 1937 (Showa 11). The design is "Mt. Fuji" by Watanabe Kazan. The first New Year stamp in the world was issued in Paraguay in 1932 (Showa 7). Japan is the second issuing country of New Year's stamps in the world.The number of issues is 330 million, and small sheets are also issued.
