New Year Greeting stamp Showa25 Issued on February 1, 1950
New Year's stamps for the 1950s were not issued for New Year's cards. The reason is that from this year, a New Year's card with a "donation (with prize) New Year's postcard" was decided. New Year's postcards were released on December 1, 1949. The number of issued postcards is 30 million without donations and 150 million with donations (2 yen + 1 yen). The Ministry of Communications has prioritized the promotion of new year's postcards with donations. The 1950 New Year stamp was issued as a small sheet for the New Year's postcard sweepstakes, so it was issued on February 1, 1950. However, in order to be legally stamped, it was necessary to issue valuable stamps other than the prize, so in addition to the small sheet for the prize, a stamp with the same design (Maruyama Okyo's tiger) was issued on the same day.
