New Year Greeting stamp Showa30 Issued on December 20, 1954
The 1955 New Year stamp was issued on December 20, 1954 (Showa 29). New Year stamps were issued on December 20th of the previous year so that there would be enough time to prepare for New Year's mail. However, as usual, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications issued 450 million New Year's postcards with donations (face value 4 yen + donation 1 yen), and the situation of New Year's postcards' advantage has not changed. Therefore, only 5 million (1/90 against post cards) New Year stamps were issued. The design was "Kanazawa Toy Kaga Rise", and a "small sheet" was distributed as a prize for New Year's postcards.
