The 1964 New Year stamp was issued on December 16, 1963 (Showa 37). In this year as well, New Year's postcards with donations of 4 yen (330 million) and postcards with a face value of 4 yen + donations of 1 yen (610 million) were issued. 15 million stamps (1/63 Against postcards) were issued for New Year's stamps. The design was the Tottori toy "Iwai Grinding Doll Dragon" and the Yamanashi toy Ryujin Blessing, and a "small sheet" was distributed as a New Year's postcard sweepstakes.
