New Year Greeting stamp Showa50 Issued on December 10, 1974
The 1975 New Year stamp was issued on December 10, 1974 (Showa 49). In this year as well, 10 yen (2.2 billion pieces) of New Year's postcards without donations and 10 yen of face value + 1 yen of donations (500 million pieces) were issued. As for New Year stamps, 50 million stamps (1/54 against postcards), which is half of the previous year, were issued. From around this time, it is estimated that the ratio of New Year stamps became low due to the reduction in the number of stamps issued due to the end of the stamp collecting boom. The design is Katsura Imperial Villa's "Narcissus Nail Hiding", and a "small sheet" was distributed as a New Year's postcard sweepstakes.
