1984年用年賀切手は、1983年 (昭和58) 12月1日に発行された。併せて、寄付金無し年賀はがき40円 (28.35億枚) と、額面40円+寄付金3円はがき (2.4億枚) が発行された。年賀切手は、7千万枚 (葉書の44分の一) が発行された。デザインは、小幡人形の「小槌乗りネズミ」であり、年賀はがき懸賞として「小型シート」が配賦された。

The 1984 New Year stamp was issued on December 1, 1983 (Showa 58). At the same time, 40 yen (2.835 billion pieces) of New Year's postcards without donations and 40 yen of face value + 3 yen of donations (240 million pieces) were issued. 70 million New Year stamps (1/44 of postcards) were issued. The design is the Obata doll "Gavel Riding Mouse", and a "small seat" was distributed as a New Year's postcard sweepstakes.
