1987年用年賀切手は、1986年 (昭和61) 12月1日に発行された。併せて、寄付金無し年賀はがき40円 (30.5億枚) と、額面40円+寄付金3円はがき (2.5億枚) が発行された。年賀切手は、7千万枚 (葉書の47分の一) が発行された。デザインは名古屋人形の「めおとうさぎのもちつき」であり、年賀はがき懸賞として、今年から、慶時切手60円と組み合わせた「小型シート」が配賦された。
