The German Language and Literature Promotion Association of Japan was founded in 1960. The purpose is to study Germany, which is closely related to Japan in various fields such as politics, economy, and culture. The association is a nationwide academic institution majoring in German language and literature, and still has about 2,000 members.
The stamp was issued in commemoration of the 8th International Conference on German Language and Literature, and was designed with "Ogai Mori and Goethe's Faust".
