100th Tennosho Horse Race Issued on October 27, 1989 (Heisei 1) The Emperor's Award is a group race (GI) of the Japan Racing Association (JRA), which is held twice a year in spring and autumn. The 1st "Imperial Award" was held in 1937 and is the highest rating in horse racing held in Japan. The stamp was issued in commemoration of the 100th Emperor's Award competition held in October 1989, and the five-crowned horse "Shinzan" is designed.
