Asian-Pacific Expo: Fukuoka '89
Issued on March 16, 1989 (Heisei 1) April 18, 1989 (Heisei 1)
The Asia Pacific Exposition was held in March 1989. This exposition focused on Asia and the Pacific region to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the enforcement of Fukuoka City. 1,056 companies from Japan and 37 countries / regions and 2 international organizations from overseas participated in the exhibition.
Stamps are issued in commemoration of this exposition, and "Venue and Earth" are designed. Since the consumption tax was applied when this stamp was issued, the face value of the stamp was 60 yen and 62 yen.The reason is that the consumption tax was introduced on April 1, 1989, so the issue date of March 16 is 60 yen without consumption tax, but the consumption tax was introduced from April 1 during the session. Therefore, a 62-yen stamp was issued.
