鹿児島国際火山会議 1988年（昭和63年） 7月 19日発行 1988年7月、鹿児島県鹿児島市で「鹿児島国際科学会議」が開催された。会議では、桜島の活火山としての活動報告や世界の火山の噴火や実態などが報告され、各国火山学専門家や報道陣など7000人以上が参加した。切手は、この会議を記念して発行され、「桜島」がデザインされている。

In July 1988, the "Kagoshima International Volcano Conference" was held in Kagoshima City, Kagoshima Prefecture. At this conference, reports on the activities of Sakurajima as an active volcano and the eruptions and actual conditions of volcanoes around the world were reported, and more than 7,000 people including volcanologists and reporters from each country participated. The stamp was issued in commemoration of this conference, and "Sakurajima" was designed.
