Jubilee of Meson Theory by Dr.Hideki yukawa
Issued on July 20, 1985 (Showa 60)
Hideki Yukawa theoretically predicted the existence of mesons inside the nucleus, which mediate the strong interaction that binds protons and neutrons to each other, in 1935. In 1947, British physicist C. Powell discovered a pion in cosmic rays, proving the correctness of Yukawa's theory, and in 1949 (Showa 24), he was the first Japanese to win the Nobel Prize. Awarded.
The stamp was issued in commemoration of that, and "Nuclear model and Hideki Yukawa" was designed.
