国際放送50年 1985年（昭和60年） 6月 1日発行 1935年（昭和10年）6月、日本語と英語によるラジオ番組が、アメリカ向けに短波で送信され、日本の国際放送が開始された。日本放送協会（NHK）による海外放送は非公式に「ラジオ・トウキョウ（Radio Tokyo）」が使用されるようになり、1941年（昭和16年）1月に公式に定着した。切手は日本の国際放送50年を記念して発行され、横山大観画「夜桜」がデザインされている。
50th Anniv. of Radio Japan Issued on June 1, 1985 (Showa 60) In June 1935 (Showa 10), a radio program in Japanese and English was transmitted to the United States in shortwave, and international broadcasting in Japan began. "Radio Tokyo" came to be used informally for overseas broadcasting by the Japan Broadcasting Corporation (NHK), and it was officially established in January 1941 (Showa 16). The stamp was issued to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Japan's international broadcasting, and is designed by Yokoyama Taikan's "Yozakura".
