Philatelic Week Issued on April 20, 1984 (Showa 59) In April 1984, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications issued stamp hobby weekly stamps (two types of continuous printing). This time, "Ohtani-Oniji's Yakko-Edobei" and "Iwai-Hansiro's Menoto Shigenoi" by Sharaku Toshusai were adopted. Sharaku Toshusai was a mysterious ukiyo-e artist from the Edo period, and left over 140 Kabuki actor paintings that were performed in Edo from May 1794 to January of the following year. Also, in the 1956 Stamp Hobby Week Stamp, "Ichikawa Ebizo" drawn by Sharaku was published and became very popular.
