第16回国際昆虫学会議 1980年（昭和55年） 5月 31日発行 国際昆虫学会議（International Congress of Entomology）は、昆虫学全般にわたる最も包括的な国際会議である。.1910年にベルギーのブリュッセルで第１回会議が開催されて以来、第二次世界大戦の混乱期を除いて、ほぼ４年ごとに各国で開催されてきた。切手は、第16回国際昆虫会議が東京で開催されたことを記念して発行され、「ギフチョウ」がデザインされている。

The International Congress of Entomology is the most comprehensive international conference on entomology in general. Since the first conference was held in Brussels, Belgium in 1910, it has been held almost every four years, except during the turmoil of World War II. The stamp was issued in commemoration of the 16th International Congress of Entomology held in Tokyo, and the "Gifcho" is designed.
