Centenary of Fire Fighting Issued on March 31, 1980 (Showa 55)

Centenary of Fire Fighting Issued on March 31, 1980 (Showa 55) Due to the Meiji Restoration, the "town fire extinguisher" of the Edo period was transferred to Tokyo Prefecture, and in 1872 the organization was reorganized into the "firefighting team". In 1881 (Meiji 14), the police and firefighting organizations were transferred to the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department, which became the basis of the current firefighting form.
The stamp was issued in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the firefighting, and was designed by Hiroshige III, "The figure of the fire extinguisher in Yashirosu-cho, Tokyo."
