1979年10月、国際文通週間（International Letter Writing Week）切手が発行された。これは、文通による相互理解で世界平和に貢献する国際週間である。万国郵便連合（UPU）結成日である10月9日から1週間、毎年設定されている。
切手は、江戸時代の画家丸山応挙が描いた「深山大沢図（しんざんだいたくず」がデザインされている。

In October 1979, the International Letter Writing Week stamp was issued. This is an international week that contributes to world peace through mutual understanding through correspondence.It is set every year for a week from October 9, the date of formation of the Universal Postal Union (UPU).The stamp is designed with the "Shinzan Daitaku-zu" drawn by the Edo period painter Maruyama Okyo.
