第50回都市対抗野球大会 1979年（昭和54年） 7月 27日発行 都市対抗野球は、1927年（昭和2年）に第1回大会が行われた。第1回大会の前は、日本にプロ野球は存在しておらず、東京六大学をはじめとする学生野球を頂点としていた。毎日新聞記者の橋戸信が、メジャー・リーグのフランチャイズ制にヒントを得て、1927年に、全国的野球大会が開催されたことが都市対抗野球の起源である。2013年の第84回大会からは総務省も後援している。切手は、ボールと選手がデザインされている。

Before the first tournament, there was no professional baseball in Japan, and student baseball such as Tokyo Rokudaigaku was at the top.The origin of the Intercity Baseball Tournament is that the Mainichi Newspaper reporter Mr. Hashido held a national baseball tournament in 1927, inspired by the major league franchise system. Since the 84th convention in 2013, it has been sponsored by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications. The stamps are designed with balls and players.
