Letter Writing Day Issued on July 23, 1979 (Showa 54) In July 1979, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications issued the first "Fumi No Hi (Letter wrighting Day)" campaign stamp. The meaning of Fumi No Hi is "Letter Day" established by the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications in July 1979. The purpose of issuing this stamp is to promote the use of mail by "inheriting the character culture through the enjoyment of letters and the joy of receiving letters." Since 1979, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications has launched a nationwide campaign to make it a national movement. After this, "Fumi no Hi" campaign stamps are issued every year.
