1888年にハインリヒ・ヘルツにより電波の存在が証明され、1890年代にグリエルモ・マルコーニによって、それが通信に応用された後に、アマチュア無線は誕生した。
日本では、1926年に「日本素人無線聯盟（JARL、現・日本アマチュア無線連盟）」が設立され、1927年以降普及した。切手は、その50年を記念して発行され、初期のスピーカーがデザインされている。

Amateur radio was born after Heinrich Hertz proved the existence of radio waves in 1888 and Guglielmo Marconi in the 1890s when it was applied to communications.
In Japan, the Japan Amateur Radio League was established in 1926 and has become widespread since 1927.Stamps were issued to commemorate the 50th anniversary and were designed with early speakers.
