Apple Centenary Issued on September 17, 1975 (Showa 50)

Apple Centenary Issued on September 17, 1975 (Showa 50) Apples (Western apples) were introduced to Japan in 1871 (Meiji 4) in the early Meiji era, and in 1875 (Meiji 8), three seedlings were distributed to Aomori Prefecture from the Industrial Promotion Board of the Ministry of Interior at that time. They were planted on the premises of the prefectural office. This is the beginning of Western apple cultivation in Japan.
Stamps are issued to commemorate the 100th anniversary of apple cultivation and are designed with apple trees and fruits.
