放送50年 1975年（昭和50年） 3月 20日発行 ラジオが世界に初めて登場したのは1900年である。発明者はカナダのレジナルド・フェッセンデンが、距離約1マイルでの音声の送受信に成功した。 日本では 1925年（大正14年）3月に、初のラジオ放送が社団法人東京放送局（JOAK：現NHK東京放送局）によって発信された。1975年5月、郵政省は日本のラジオ放送50年を記念して切手を発行し、棟方志功の「観聞頌」（かんもんしょう）がデザインされた。
50th Anniv. of Broadcasting Issued on March 20, 1975 (Showa 50) Radio first appeared in the world in 1900. The inventor, Reginald Fessenden of Canada, succeeded in sending and receiving voice at a distance of about 1 mile. In Japan, in March 1925 (Taisho 14), his first radio broadcast was broadcast by the Tokyo Broadcasting Corporation (JOAK: now NHK Tokyo Broadcasting Station). In May 1975, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications issued a stamp to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Japanese radio broadcasting, and Shiko Munakata's "Kanmonsho" was designed.
